Support & FAQ
Straight answers.
No runarounds.
The questions we hear most, answered like we'd answer a colleague over a hotel-bar coffee.
Is it really a one-time purchase?
Yes. $149, once — no subscription, ever. You own the app and the version you bought for life: it keeps working, keeps exporting, and never turns into a rental. Day-to-day updates and fixes are included. If we ever build a major new version down the road, it might be offered as a separate one-time upgrade — but your logbook keeps working regardless, and we will never convert it into a subscription. Pro is the only paid tier — no Premium above it, no Captain tier, no founding-member loophole.
How does the local sync actually work?
When two of your own devices are on the same network, they discover each other directly and sync over an end-to-end mTLS channel. Hybrid Logical Clocks keep edit ordering consistent even when a device has been offline. No relay server, no third-party cloud touching your flight data — just the devices you already paid for, talking to each other.
So what runs in the cloud, then?
Our licensing server hosts the license check and sign-in. When you buy Lifetime, the entitlement that unlocks premium features and unlimited logging lives there. Your flight data does not. That separation is deliberate, and we're happy to be precise about it.
Which platforms can I run it on?
We're building for every major platform — iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, Linux. Today iOS and Android are in public beta (TestFlight and Google Play's beta track), with the desktop builds close behind in active development. One Lifetime license unlocks all of them as each one lands — you buy once, not once per platform.
Can I bring data in from my old logbook?
Yes. The smart importer maps CSV and XLS columns automatically — date format, time format, column intent — and lets you override any guess when it's wrong. Whether it's a roster export, a legacy desktop app, or a decade-old spreadsheet you maintain yourself, it meets your data where it is.
What about my old paper logbook? And why does AI Scan cost extra?
AI Scan reads photographed or scanned logbook pages and extracts the rows for you to review before they commit. It's the one thing in the app that isn't free, because it runs real cloud AI on your pages and we pay per page for it. Rather than bake that cost into the $149 and charge every pilot for a service most won't use, we keep it separate: Lifetime gets you a 10-page preview to judge the quality, then you buy pages in packs that never expire, only if you actually need them. If you're not digitizing a paper logbook, you'll never see a charge beyond the $149.
How accurate is AI Scan, really?
Honest answer: we're still measuring it. Extraction quality depends heavily on your handwriting and how standard your logbook layout is (TCCA, EASA, FAA, CASA, CAANZ), and we're in beta — so instead of quoting a number we can't yet stand behind, we built two things to protect you. First, every extraction runs server-side validation that flags implausible values — totals over 24 hours, category time exceeding the flight total, unrecognized registrations — so the review queue surfaces what needs your eye instead of asking you to re-check everything. Second, the 10-page free preview exists precisely so you can judge the quality on your own pages before spending a dollar. If it can't read your handwriting, you'll know inside ten pages and it cost you nothing.
What happens to the photos I upload for AI Scan?
Your page passes through our server to Google AI Studio, where a Gemini model reads it and sends the structured rows back the same way; the image is deleted within 24 hours. That processing runs in the United States today. Google's paid Gemini API does not train its models on your data — that's contractual, not a hope. We keep a metadata record of each call (timestamp, page count, cost) for billing and debugging, and we don't retain the image past that 24-hour window. EU-resident processing is on the roadmap but not yet live. The full privacy disclosure is shown before your first upload and lives in settings after that.
Can I refund unused AI Scan pages?
Yes — full refund within 30 days if you haven't used the pages from that purchase yet. Once you've consumed them on extractions, that batch isn't refundable (we already paid the provider). The refund policy page has the precise rules.
How big is the airport database? Is it bundled or downloaded?
Bundled. Every release ships with 84,000+ airports, 10,000+ aircraft types, and 1,500+ manufacturers built in — sourced from OurAirports, OpenSky Network, and OpenStreetMap. There is no first-launch download and no premium 'data pack' upsell. If you want fresher data than your current build, the upstream sources are one click away on our credits page.
Is this only for airline pilots?
It's built airline-first — that's the north star, and the schema reflects it. But the regs we model (FAA, EASA, TCCA, CASA, CAANZ) apply to every pilot, and we don't lock anyone out. GA, instructors, students, military — if you keep a logbook, this is for you.
Can I get my data back out?
Always — and getting your raw data out never costs a thing. Full CSV and Excel export is free whether you're on Pro or not, so your logbook is never locked in. (The print-ready PDF logbook and the regulatory formats are a Pro feature.) Your logbook is also just a single file on your device — you could open it with sqlite3 if you really wanted. We have no incentive to make leaving difficult, because we already got paid.
